Nice International Airport is six kilometers away. Hotel Features. Built in 1912, the Hotel Negresco is one of the few remaining privately owned palaces in the world. A mix of old and new, 15th century antiques sit next to modern art throughout the hotel. The public areas feature original Salvador Dali paintings and ancient Japanese vases. Amenities include complimentary newspapers and safe deposit boxes in the lobby. Le Relais bar is open from late morning and serves drinks but no food. Rotonde serves breakfasts, afternoon tea and cake and an a la carte menu. The Chantecler restaurant serves a la carte and set menus for lunches and dinners daily. Tasting portions are available. Special Note The Chantecler is closed every year during the month of January. All of the ensuite bathrooms have heated towel rails and complimentary Roger Gallet perfume. Some have gold tubs and double wash basins. High speed Internet access is available for a fee. Expert Tip. Guests are ushered into the hotel' lobby by white gloved doorstaff dressed in 19th century dress designed by Pierre Cardin. A crimson circular couch is lined with gold tassels, crowned with a regal bust, and lit by a crystal chandelier. Oil paintings hang from gilded rails behind the front desk, where well heeled clientele, bon viveurs, and occasionally members of the glitterati register.
